Men socialite together

WHITE RIVER – In an effort to bring together men of all walks of life, creating long-lasting friendships, the White River Social Club (WSC) was founded.

The club has grown to 20 members, from 30 to 50-year-olds, and recently celebrated its first birthday in KaMagugu.
“The club was founded to encourage members to grow collectively. We promote mutual respect and responsible behaviour, and members are encouraged to be exemplary. They are motivated to be considerable members of the society,” explains Caswell Shongwe, club publicist.

New members pay a once-off R100 and then R200 monthly, of which R150 is deposited into the WSC account while R50 is kept for catering. Members also support each other in difficult times.

“In case a member dies, members contribute R200 each, when a member’s spouse dies we contribute R100 e ch and in case of members’ children, we contribute R50 each from the club’s savings,” he adds.

The members meet every two months.
