The spokesperson of the Kabokweni police station, Capt Shirley Ngomane confirmed the incident and told Mpumalanga News that the suspect is in custody and a case of rape has been opened.

She added that recently they have discovered that rape is rife in this area and victims are minors. “For the past few months the station received a high number of rape cases and most victims are minors.

The victims are abused by their family members.We are also busy with crime awareness campaigns, teaching children and the community about abuse and encouraging them to speak out when they are abused,” she explained.
The accused will appear in court soon
