10-year-old boy airlifted after severe burns

on Wednesday Netcare 911 responded to calls for assistance at the Doctors Rooms in Lydenburg.

The doctors and the Netcare 911 Advanced Life Support paramedic attended to a 10-year-old boy who had sustained very serious injuries after allegedly being burnt with boiling water. Various medications were administered to managed the patients significant pain.

Due to the seriousness of his injuries, the location of the incident as well as the specialised treatment that was required, the Netcare 911 helicopter was called to the scene to airlift the boy to a specialised children’s Burns Unit.

The road was closed to ensure a safe landing zone and Netcare 911 touched down outside the Doctors Rooms as per the attached photograph.

The boy was then airlifted to Johannesburg for the urgent and specialised treatment that he required.
