The registration for grade one and eight learners in schools in the province will be open this week.

MBOMBELA – The registration for grade one and eight learners in schools in the province will be open as of May 2.

“Parents will be assisted to register their children in schools from May 2. The idea is to have the process finalised by the end of July. We will get an admission update every month from May until end of July,” explained Mr Jasper Zwane, spokesperson for the Department of Education.

According to him, means will be put in place to avert registration and admission challenges seen in the beginning of this year. He added that the department will work closely with principals to ensure the process runs smoothly.

“We are likely to have a central waiting list coordinated at the district offices. Senior officials will also be deployed to Mbombela, Steve Tshwete, eMalahleni, Mkhondo and Secunda where we usually have lots of challenges with admission processes,” Zwane stated.
