Bus passenger arrested for dealing in dagga

He was travelling in an Intercape bus from Mozambique to Johannesburg on the N4 just before the Schoemanskloof turn-off.

A 27-year-old suspect, Gervas Phillip Karogo, believed to be from Tanzania, was remanded in custody by the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on August 26 when he appeared on a charge of dealing in dagga. His case was postponed to August 29 for bail application.

Karogo was arrested on August 25 by the Ngodwana police during a stop-and-search operation. He was travelling in an Intercape bus from Mozambique to Johannesburg on the N4 just before the Schoemanskloof turn-off. His luggage were found to contain dagga wrapped up in packets. The packets weighed 43,7 kilograms with a street value of R155 000. The police management in Mpumalanga said they will work tirelessly to make sure that road policing operations are carried out with a view to curb such crimes
