A new supplier of bricks in the Mbombela area
Do you have a building project at hand and need quality bricks, maxi bricks, stock bricks, paving bricks and blocks that meet the required standards of the South African National Bureau of Standards?

If so, Mbusi Bricks, formerly known as Mbusi Women Plant Hire & Construction, is your answer.
Due to the demand for bricks, and seeing that the company was spending more and more money buying bricks, the managers decided to manufacture their own construction and paving bricks.

“We realised that making bricks only, without complying to standards of the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), was not going to be a good thing,” explained Mlindzisi JJ Shongwe, one of the managers of Mbusi Bricks.
The company is one of 29 small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) in Mpumalanga that has benefited from the in-depth development from the SABS SMME department.
This two-year investment is as a result of a partnership with the provincial Department of Economic Development and Tourism and the Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency, who conceptualised and funded the programme to sustainably develop SMMEs to contribute towards job creation and economic development.
“We then started the process of complying, which was very daunting. We had to get the right material and mix correctly with the right quantity to produce quality bricks. Our products were then tested and passed. We passed because the bricks had the required strength,” explained Shongwe.

Mbusi Construction owns two brick-making machines, one in Low’s Creek, where they manufacture and supply bricks for a 45-kilometre road project taking place there.
The company has since created 25 job opportunities in Low’s Creek and 15 in Mbombela. “The people of Mbombela may rest assured they will receive quality bricks from us,” Shongwe added.
Free deliveries are done in areas within Mbombela. Minimal extra costs are included for areas beyond Mbombela.
Mbusi Bricks has been certified by SABS as a qualified brick manufacturing company. The management of Mbusi Bricks has received their SABS certificates on October 2.
“Having the SABS certificate is testament that their products have been tested and certified to comply with the South African National Standards (SANS) 1215 for the concrete masonry units and SANS 1058 for the concrete paving blocks.”
“The SABS mark and certificate ensures that your product is consistent in quality and your quality is consistently checked by an independent entity, that will come over to verify that you are still following the relevant standards, whether they are national or international standards,” explained Dumsani Mngadi, SABS’s manager for SMME, Business Unit. He said Mbusi Bricks will be audited every year to verify if it is following the defined procedures and stipulated standards.
