Not just your everyday make-up artist
The dazzling Nondumiso Shungube (32) has set trends in the world of social entrepreneurship, as well as the beauty and fashion industry during the past three years.

TONGA – A wife and mother to two daughters, Ndumie or Ndue as she is fondly known by her clients, found passion in the beauty industry when she was still a little girl in rural Mbuzini in Nkomazi.
“I used to do my make-up, put together clothing items and got complimented by friends, family members and people I hardly knew,” Ndue said.

“That’s when I realised my potential was in the beauty industry.” Ndue then decided to launch a mobile make-up business she dubbed Ndue’s Signature. She gives skincare tips and offers make-up services for weddings, birthdays, graduations, matric dances and any other special events.
“After undergoing professional training to become a make-up artist, I began to host tutorials that teach women techniques needed for applying it,” she said. Ndue described herself as an open book who is always ready to teach and learn from others.
“I share my expertise with anyone who is willing to learn, while I am also learning from them. I am not an accomplished artist. I am still growing and there’s always room for me to learn from other people as there are constantly new trends in the beauty and makeup industry,” she smiled.
“Make-up requires creativity. As an artist or beautician, you get better and better with time as you keep on practising and trying to implement different looks in your trade.” She prides herself in being involved in big events such as Women’s Day and government functions.

“The world is evolving with beauty and technology. This trend requires sustainability. Guided by my background, Joseph Ntimba KaMasiah Nondumiso Shungube. African beauty and showcasing my beauty abilities to myself and to others, is life to me,” she said. Nkomazi FM presenter, Nomathemba Nkosi, is one of Ndue’s clients who can’t cease singing praises about the incredible service offered by the Ndue’s Signature.
“What I like about her is the fact that she doesn’t treat her expertise as a job, but as a passion – that she wakes up to fulfil every day. She is so passionate that you feel at home when you are serviced by her. I love her work,” she said. Ndue is also a social media fanatic and influencer.
“I have recently ventured onto social media through a YouTube channel which is still under construction. I intend to post videos that reflect my trade and share what I know with other people. My ambition is to reach all the corners of the world.” Raised by a single mother who taught her the value of hard work, Ndue said she could feel that she has now earned her rightful place in the beauty and make-up industry through perseverance, consistency, determination and of course, family support.
“I want to be a beauty influencer for recognised brands. I aspire to have my own beauty studio and make-up brand. On the YouTube channel @ndue_ signatures, I will be sharing skincare tips, reviews, step-by-step tutorials, make-up and fashion talks, and sharing products that I use to achieve my looks,” she said.
Ndue said the success of her business is due to the support of friends, social media followers and the Nkomazi community. “The support and feedback I get is amazing. To people out there, discover your passion and invest in it,” she said
