Mpumalanga Idols hopefuls fly the province’s flag high
Two of Mpumalanga’s Idols contestants, Zama Khumalo and Brandon Dhludhlu, safely secured themselves a place in the Top 9 of the Idols SA season 16, over the weekend.
Emalahleni-born Zama Khumalo’s performance of Doja Cats’ “Say So” wowed the judges. Somizi Mhlongo publicly declared he was a fan of Khumalo, while Unathi Msengana said the rising star deserved to be in the competition. Randall Abrahams also commended her versatility.

Barberton-born Brandon Dhludhlu’s performance of Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” also had the judges praising his talent. Lady Luck was not with Waterval Boven-born Successor Zitha as he was eliminated from the competition.

“Seeing a contestant eliminated is not easy. All these singers are talented and have potential, but the survival of the remaining contestants is in the hands of the voters, so they need to continue voting to ensure their favourite Idols wannabe remains to the end,” said Nomsa Philiso, the director of local entertainment channels at M-Net.
The Mpumalanga Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation urged the province to rally behind their own. To vote for Brandon SMS 01 to 37400 and to vote for Zama SMS 04 to 37400.
