66 spring vacation centres for matriculants to open today

The Mpumalanga Department of Education has organised 66 spring vacation centres to cater for 11 881 grade 12 learners of schools that were listed below the 70 per cent mark in the 2019 national senior certificate examinations.

A total of 942 teachers have been selected to teach at these centres from October 26 to 30, focusing on 11 high enrolment subjects.

This centre is hosting three schools, namely Mmametlake, Mmabothe and Rathanhana secondary with a total of 425 matrics. Where there is a need, the department will provide food through the school nutrition programme to all learners and scholar transport operators.

“We intend on supporting all schools, including underperforming ones so they can all move beyond the 70 per cent mark. Our main focus is on quality, as we expect our learners to pass with good marks,” said Majuba.
