Mass funeral for Msogwaba family after N4 crash
A 34-year-old man, Phinda Mabaso, his wife, Portia (28), and their two children, Ntokozo and his little sister, Siphesihle, will be laid to rest in the Msogwaba Cemetery this morning.
The family tragically lost their lives on the N4 Toll Road when the Ford Focus hatchback they were travelling in collided head-on with an articulated truck near Machadodorp last Saturday.
The MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Vusi Shongwe, paid homage to the bereaved family yesterday. “We are shattered. As the provincial government, on behalf of our Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, this accident, just like any other in the province, is worrisome to us. But this one with four people perishing on the road, including two children, is so saddening,” said Shongwe.
He called on all road users to adhere to the signs and rules of the road. “We call on motorists to obey each and every rule that govern us, to make sure that we protect everyone against situations like this one,” he said.
“Investigations of how the accident happened are still under way,” he concluded.
