Five people killed on R573 Road near Kwaggafontein

Five people lost their lives last night around 22h00 on R573 near Kwaggafonteinwhen when two light delivery vehicles (LDVs) collided head to side.

Both drivers and one passenger died instantly at the scene. Two passengers also lost their lives later at Kwamhlanga Hospital.

One passenger sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at the hospital.

It is not clear as to what caused the crash. The investigation into the collision is already underway.

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Vusi Shongwe expressed shock at the crash saying motorists should be more cautious on the road to save lives.

The MEC also sends condolences to the bereaved families and also wished the injured person a speedy recovery. 

It is believed that the victims are Kwaggafontein and Matshiding village residents.
