Dr Mogane’s story inspires others
Last year, the province witnessed the rise of a young medical doctor who started off as an office cleaner but worked her way to the top. Dr Eurika Mogane journey to success is an inspiring one.
From cleaning offices to braiding other students’ hair to make ends meet and pay off her tertiary tuition fees, Mogane never gave up hope.
She has received two international awards for her tremendous contribution and empowering work.
This year, she and 199 other young South Africans were honoured as the Top 200 Young South Africans 2021 on the Mail & Guardian List.
“I am sincerely grateful that my story could empower and encourage others. I am grateful that the world noticed my little deeds of taking some time to volunteer and offer community health and wellness support to those who can’t afford to pay for the services,” she said.

She recently volunteered to assist in compiling and translating an online Covid-19 course for South Africans, that they may access and acquire a free learning certificate. Mogane has just been nominated in the 2021 South African Heroines Awards, held annually in Bloemfontein.
She is also a brand ambassador for the SPAR Women’s Virtual Challenge 2021. She conducts features on various local radio stations where she shares her story and encourages others not to give up.
“Ap Peter Jones encouraged me to go back and finish my studies no matter what, and today I see that many others needed what I have. I am honoured to offer support to various community projects and campaigns,” concluded Mogane.
