Completion of roadworks will end frustrations
Traffic is still a nightmare on the busy N4 toll road between Kaapmuiden and Mbombela.
This is because of the current ongoing roadworks on the N4. Affected areas are the intersections at Matsulu, KaNyamazane and Karino.
Normally it would take about 40 minutes to drive from the Nkomazi Toll Plaza in Kaapmuiden to Mbombela, but now motorists can expect delays of up to an hour and a half.
“We would like to urge all road users and especially motorists to consider leaving earlier than before, so that they arrive at their workplaces on time. We are aware of the inconveniences caused by the ongoing road constructions, but this is for the better, because our roads will be now bigger and safer,” said the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison’s spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi.

Even though community members had welcomed the road’s facelift, they highlighted their frustrations about the snail’s pace it is taking.
“I personally like what is being done here, but I think it is taking forever to finish. It has been almost two years since the construction has started, but it is not going anywhere. Otherwise, I am happy that our roads are now going to be widened up and allow traffic to flow. I can’t wait for the construction to be finished, especially at the Karino junction.
“We are happy with the development since it is going to work in our favour in the long run. Yes, our businesses are currently suffering due to the delays on the road, but we look forward to having better roads,” said Gags Luxury Tours owner, Thulani Magagula.
