Vukalusha aims to help the youth to lead a clean, healthy life

Founders of a local nonprofit organisation, Vukalusha, with the Pienaarborn contestant of Miss Glam South Africa, Tintswalo Ngobeni, donated sanitary packs to Hillaria Mthethwa Secondary School learners.

“The aim was to restore dignity to young girls and to help them attend school during their menstrual cycle as part of Women’s Month,” said Lucky Bakker, the chairperson of the organisation. Bakker said the organisation was formed seven years ago and only became more active during the peak of the lockdown last year.

Their objectives are to help deal with social ills among the youth.

“We aim to teach the youth and implement educational programmes regarding the use of drugs and other substance abuse so that they may enjoy leading a clean life free of drugs. We also aim to promote local talent in the community hence our undying support to Ngobeni in her Miss Glam pageant journey. We want to promote a healthy lifestyle and help in building responsible and accountable future leaders,” explained Bakker.

“We thank all those who sponsored us during the handover,” he said. Thabiso Theko, a member of the group, added that they had in the recent weeks been on air discussing youth-related issues on local radio stations.

“We aim to help empower as many youth as we can and help them to make the right decisions with their lives. We will continue to donate dignity packs to various schools in Mbombela. Tiphembeleni Secondary is the next on the list,” he said. The organisation is looking for anyone to sponsor them to achieve its dreams.
