Mpumalanga health department bids farewell to hospital CEO of 37 years

Mamogale Thabitha Masemola has a vast knowledge and experience in the health sector.

The provincial Department of Health said goodbye to one of its most dedicated and committed employees who served the public for 37 years.

Mamogale Thabitha Masemola had been employed as Standerton TB Hospital’s CEO when she retired last week.
During her retirement speech she said it had been an adventure and she enjoyed the ride.
“Colleagues we meet to part, and we part to meet. Today is my last day to say goodbye and thank you very much. It was nice to be part of the Department of Health in Mpumalanga.”

Masemola’s career started at Jane Furse Memorial Hospital in November 1979. She worked as a student nurse and professional nurse in general nursing care and rural community care. After that she worked at other various health facilities in and outside Mpumalanga before she was appointed at WF te Water SANTA Centre in Standerton as a matron in December 1999. She was responsible for both the nursing and clinical sections. She working closely with SANTA national and the other 22 centres in South Africa.
In August 2005 Masemola was incorporated into the provincial health department as a nursing service manager at Standerton TB Hospital and in 2008 she was awarded by the International Nurses Association as a best TB management nurse in South Africa.

In 2015 she was appointed as the CEO of this hospital. It is is responsible for all TB cases in the Gert Sibande District.
The head of department, Dudu Mdluli, wished her well on her new endeavours.

You have served the people of Mpumalanga very well Mme Masemola. Enjoy your retirement; we will miss your contributions and innovative ways of building the spirit of teamwork. We have learnt a lot from you. “
