Being a competitive runway model has been her dream from an early age and now, at the age of 13, bubbly and vivacious Siyanda Maziya is already living the dream and argues that the best is yet to come.
Having participated in a number of competitions, this young Barberton model’s highlight of her career was the International Talent Showcase where she participated with other young models from across the globe.
This competition was held at Disney World, Florida, USA last year. “I still remember participating in this competition as if it all happened yesterday. The experience was overwhelming,” Siyanda opened up with a beaming smile.

From this competition, she stood a chance of being recruited by some of the world’s best and famous runway-modelling scouts and agencies. In the US she was voted Overall Child of the Year, Best Child Runway and the Best Child Photography. She has also just been voted the second princess in the Sleeping Beauty 2020 competition.
“I take and treat this as not just a talent, but a career as well. I am inspired by some of the world’s greatest runway models such as Naomi Campbell and Alek Wek,” she continued.
Siyanda is a model affiliated with the internationally acclaimed modelling agency Master Models Nelspruit, owned by Candice Paterson.
“Besides being spotted in America, participating there gave me an opportunity to learn more about this industry, and it is all because of my mentor, Candice Paterson,” she said.
Most importantly, she said, these experiences have motivated her to want to stay on top of her game while also concentrating on her studies.

She is on top of her class and excelling in maths and natural sciences, proving that she is not just a beautiful face, but brains as well.
Apart from her own empowerment, Siyanda says she hopes to develop the entire community of Mpumalanga and be a role model to other young girls.
“I would really love to come back one day and groom other young girls into future-focused individuals who will impact our province and country at large with good deeds. This career will provide me with a platform to launch my intentions and wishes to impact young girls and make our province and country an envied space to live in,” she continues.
