N4 reopened after truck accident

Following an accident on the N4 at the Sudwala Caves turn-off, traffic was disrupted for more than seven hours. During this period the road alternated between being closed and having a stop-and-go in place.

Both Van Wettens and Emer-G-Med confirmed traffic is again flowing both ways. Van Wettens is still on the scene clearing debris.

The accident, which involved two trucks, occurred before 05:00 on Tuesday September 27.

“Reports from the scene are that two trucks have collided with one overturning,” said Emer-G-Med in a statement.

The emergency service said both drivers had sustained moderate injuries and were treated and stabilised on scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.
