Hawks offices broken into in Mbombela

Sensitive information and case dockets remain safe despite a burglary at the Hawks offices.

Crime does not discriminate and affects everyone, including the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), commonly known as the Hawks.

The Ehlanzeni District offices of the Hawks were broken into on Wednesday night, January.

The suspect or suspects gained access by forcing open a window and stole a few loose items, including a computer screen and a projector.

The acting provincial head of the Hawks, Brigadier Danie Hall, has assured the public that all case dockets are safe despite the burglary.

“The brigadier wishes to assure the public that neither case dockets nor computers were stolen. He further confirmed that no sensitive information was compromised,” said Mpumalanga Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Magonseni Nkosi.

“The Hawks would like to request community members, pawnshops and recycling centres not to buy these items. Anyone offered such items for sale is urged to contact their nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” Nkosi warned.

No arrests have been made at this stage, and investigations are ongoing.
