Vaalbank teenager granted bail after being charged with allegedly raping his aunt

 The aunt alleged that she was raped on countless occasions by the 17-year-old since April.

The 17-year-old who allegedly raped his aunt was granted free bail yesterday. The aunt opened a case of rape against her nephew, who alleged raped her numerous times.

The boy was arrested in Molapomogale near Vaalbank on Thursday September 22.

According to a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, the 54-year-old woman broke her silence after five months.

“The aunt alleged that he raped her on the numerous occasions from April until early September. It is further alleged that the victim warned him multiple times to stop his abuse, but the plea reportedly fell on deaf ears. She reported the matter to the police and the case was assigned to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit,” Mohlala said.

The teenager appeared in the Mbibana Magistrate’s Court on Friday September 23. The case was postponed and he was remanded in custody until to Monday September 26 when he appeared again and was granted bail.

The case has been postponed to Tuesday October 4.
