Nkomazi woman accused of murder of ex-lover
The woman was charged accordingly and has appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate's Court.
A 35-year-old woman appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court in Tonga on Monday October 3 for allegedly murdering her ex-lover on Sunday October 2, after an alleged altercation between the two.
The case was postponed to Thursday October 6 for a formal bail hearing.
The accused claimed she had found him lying in the street with a stab wound in the chest.
According to the police, the man had gone to the woman’s house in the early hours of Sunday.
“It is further said there was an exchange of words between the two. Reports also indicate that the man was somehow found by the suspect lying on the street at about 07:00,” said a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.
“The probe by the police suggests that the woman had allegedly stabbed him during their squabble and left him outside her house. Even though she later called for help, she was not let off the hook. The man was taken to Tonga Hospital, but he unfortunately succumbed to the injury, hence the female suspect was arrested and charged with murder.”

The accused has been remanded in custody.
In a separate incident, an eight-year-old boy, who was reported missing in Elukwatini on Friday September 30, was found dead on Sunday.
“His partly decomposed body was found in a street close to his house, where the family and the police had previously searched without luck. The police are awaiting the post-mortem results to determine the cause of death. Meanwhile, the investigation continues,” Mohlala said.
