Female Mpumalanga farmer vies for Africa’s Best Woman in Agribusiness

Lebohang Dhludhlu is not only a farmer, but also an academic of note and a life coach.

The award-winning farmer, Lebohang Dhludhlu of Inkanyezi Poultry Farm, has made a name for herself by being nominated for Africa’s Best Woman in Agribusiness, hosted in Ghana on October 27.
She will be vying for this award and is hoping to win it.

Dhludhlu has previously won some other awards, and has established herself as a pathfinder in the farming industry in a relatively short period of time. She won the Emerging Leader of the Year in Agriculture, Farmer of the Year Across the Globe under Vessels of Virtue, and International Woman in Development Across the Globe awards.

Dhludhlu is not only a farmer, but an academic of note, and a life coach who hosts motivational talks sessions. She has online sessions on which she offers training to 90 emerging farmers.

The community has praised Dhludhlu for being a sincere leader and a hard worker. She has been successful in alleviating poverty as she employs 10 young people in her community.

Dhludhlu’s poultry farm has gained a lot of support throughout the province, and she also supplies to Gauteng.

“Even if I do not win the award, it still means a lot to me to get such recognition across borders. It means a lot to me to be nominated, because it shows that my work speaks volumes. The growth is massive and it is encouraging to be nominated across Africa.

I want people to change the narrative and know that farming is not for the uneducated or dirty, but is a way of life and a sustainable business. Farming is a legacy I want to leave for the next generations of my family.”

She said she had faced challenges, but with hard work and patience she managed to pull through.
“I am not saying I am at the level I want to be, but I have made progress since I started in 2019. I have worked hard even at times when I felt like nothing made sense. I managed to fight and work my way up.”
