Department of safety visits three school in Bushbuckridge

According to Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, the three schools are well known for been problematic.

The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL) visited three schools in Ximungwe Circuit, Bushbuckridge, to promote safety.

Mabarhula Secondary, Madlala Secondary and Hlomani Secondary are, according to DCSSL, the most problematic in the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality.

The department, together with the Mpumalanga Department of Education, various units of the SAPS, the Community Police Forum (CPF) and traffic officials in the province joined the initiative.

The visit was part of the school safety programme of the department.

A statement by the DCSSL’s said, “Dagga was confiscated from learners who later, when interrogated, confessed where they had bought it. Another learner, who is believed to be part of a gang, was found with a screwdriver”.

Lydia Shirindza, an official from the Department of Education who was also part of the operation, said, “The schools will take further steps and implement disciplinary actions against the learners who were found with dagga and a screwdriver.”
