Public hearing meeting on NHI Bill held in Nkomazi

Community members of Nkomazi had the opportunity to attend a public hearing meeting regarding the National Health Insurance Bill.

The Mpumalanga Department of Health led by the deputy director general of clinical services, Dudu Mdluli, attended the public hearing meeting of the National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill.

The community was invited to attend the meeting.

It was held at Schoemansdal Community Hall in Nkomazi Local Municipality on October 12. The meeting was conducted by the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature.

The Department of Health’s spokesperson, Dumisani Malamule, said this meeting is one of many where maximum participation is encouraged and allowed for community members to express their views regarding the bill.

“The NHI Bill is a tool for government to achieve the universal health coverage for all people, meaning that every South African will have a right to access comprehensive healthcare services free of charge at the point of care at accredited health facilities, such as clinics and hospitals, and from private health practitioners,” he explained.
