Athlete represents KaBokweni school at national athletics meet in Limpopo

The 11-year-old girl participated in the 80m and 100m sprints and 4x100m relay at the 2024 SASA National Primary Schools Track and Field Championships.

For the first time in the history of Mlilo Primary School in KaBokweni, one of its learners, Nonhlekazi Masangu (11), represented the school and the Nsikazi Circuit in the 2024 SASA National Primary Schools Track and Field Championships at the University of Limpopo’s Oscar Mpetha Stadium.

The annual championships commenced on Monday March 25 and concluded on Tuesday March 26, and is hosted by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and the Department of Basic Education.

Nonhlekazi participated in the 80m and 100m sprints on Monday and 4x100m relay on Tuesday.

The school’s principal, Levy Mnisi, who accompanied the athlete, said her achievement has made the school proud.

“We are happy to be able to witness one of our learners in the national championships. There are many learners like Nonhlekazi in KaBokweni who need to be supported to reach greater heights with sports. There is still room for improvement with support and establishment of good facilities in our community that will encourage learners to excel in sports,” he said.
