Themba Hospital in KaBokweni, in the City of Mbombela, has been closed since Thursday April 4 and is currently under heavy police and private security guard.

This closure follows a protest staged by a local business forum last week, which is said to have turned violent.

A number of healthcare workers are said to have been assaulted during this protest.

The premier, Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, and MEC for health, Sasekani Manzini, are currently at the hospital locked in meetings with all the parties involved.
