Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena Campaign launched in Gert Sibande

The Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena Campaign is an initiative in which the community and learners work together to keep the schools clean.

The Department of Education’s CFO, Thokozile Ntuli, led the launch of the Gert Sibande’s Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena Campaign at Ethembeni Primary School in Wakkerstroom, Pixley ka IsaKa Seme Local Municipality, on Tuesday April 16.

This campaign is all about empowering communities to take ownership and pride in their schools.

On the day of the launch, officials and members of the community were working together to repair broken windows, doors and leaking roofs, painting, improving the landscaping and creating a more welcoming atmosphere for learning and teaching.

The department’s spokesperson, Jasper Zwane, said: “This campaign goes beyond aesthetics, but also endeavours to free schools from criminal activities, trafficking of illegal substances and dangerous weapons, to ensure a secure learning and teaching space. It intends to create a safe and nurturing learning and teaching environment for every school and child.

“The department is encouraging everyone, parents, teachers, learners and community members, to join us on this special day. Let’s work hand in hand to ensure a brighter future for our schools,” said Zwane.
