Mpumalanga premier and MEC hand over renovated Bethal Hospital

The renovations at Bethal Regional Hospital cost R800m and the community will benefit from the improvements done.

The Mpumalanga premier, Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, accompanied by the MEC for health in Mpumalanga, Sasekani Manzini, officially opened the newly renovated Bethal Regional Hospital in Govan Mbeki Local Municipality on Tuesday April 23.

According to the Department of Health, the renovations cost approximately R800m. It created 457 job opportunities with 128 females, 329 males and 310 young people employed.

“The high-tech digital medical hospital is in line with the National Health Insurance (NHI) standards to assist in achieving universal health coverage for all, regardless of one’s economic or social background,” said department’s spokesperson, Dumisani Malamule.

This facility has a well-equipped dental care and radiology units, a pharmacy, a maternity ward and an emergency service ward.

During her keynote address, Mtshweni-Tsipane also mentioned that the government has ensured that more medical staff have been hired, and vacant posts will be filled in the future so that the people continue to access adequate healthcare services.
