Lions on the loose at Ngwenya Lodge
The SANParks helicopter and veterinary services are working to drive the lions back into the Kruger National Park.
The SANParks helicopter and veterinary team are busy driving a pride of lions on the Ngwenya Lodge property back into the Kruger National Park (KNP).
According to a Facebook post on its official page, SANParks has alerted the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, who becomes responsible for wild animals once they cross the KNP boundary and leave the park.
Hayley Dahl said on Facebook she is at Ngwenya at the moment and saw a pride of lions at Hippo Pools last night, September 10, making their way across the river towards Ngwenya Lodge.

She also claims to have seen a few subadult cubs in the pride. Other social media commentators reported that they had heard the helicopter.
This comes after six elephants recently escaped the Kruger Park near Hazyview and local community members attempted to thwart SANParks’ efforts at driving them back in.
At the time, SANParks’ spokesperson, Ike Phaahla, said it was normal for animals to cross the boundary river and leave the park in winter while water levels are low.
