Goalless game in Mbombela for the Rockets
The Rockets have moved up to the ninth position on the log under the leadership of their new head coach, Adnan Beganovic.
TS Galaxy had a goalless draw with Magesi at Mbombela Stadium on January 4.
Despite not scoring a goal, the Rockets remained unbeaten.
The Rockets have now picked up 12 points since Adnan Beganovic replaced Sead Ramovic as head coach. They moved up to ninth in the Betway Premiership standings, still one point behind Golden Arrows, who also drew 0-0 with AmaZulu in a concurrent match.
TS Galaxy were looking to keep the momentum going under the Bosnian, who had yet to taste defeat in his opening five matches at the helm, and guided them to a 3-1 win over Royal AM last time out.
Owen da Gama, who took over from Clinton Larsen as Magesi’s head coach on December 30 was hoping to arrest a four-game losing streak, which left Magesi rooted to the foot of the table, two points adrift of safety. Da Gama, a former TS Galaxy coach, came head to head with his former team.

Galaxy bossed possession in the first half and rained shots down on the opposition’s goal, forcing Elvis Chipezeze to make three saves as well as being denied by the woodwork on one occasion. Five of Galaxy’s 10 attempts at goal came from outside the box, while the visitors had two sniffs at goal from inside the 18-yard area, but failed to capitalise on their chances.
The Rockets continued to see plenty of the ball in the second half and created a few early opportunities without testing Chipezeze, and it was Ira Tapé who was called into action for the first time in the closing stages to deny Dikwena Tša Meetse their first win in nine outings. Galaxy had a glorious chance to snatch all three points late on, but Chipezeze pulled off a fine save to ensure his team shares in the spoils.
