Three pedestrians killed in Mgobodzi

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage; an investigation is under way.

Three pedestrians were killed and two injured when they were hit by a vehicle on the D2945 between Magudu and Mgobodzi on Sunday, January 12.

According to the spokesperson for Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL), Moeti Mmusi, a Toyota sedan crashed into five pedestrians who were walking on the road at about 11:30.

“Three people lost their lives at the scene of the crash while two sustained serious injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. The deceased include a 54-year-old woman and two children, aged 14 and 10,” Mmusi said.

The MEC for the DCSSL, Jackie Macie, has once again called on motorists to be cautious and always be on lookout for pedestrians, especially when they drive in residential areas.
