KaBokweni dancer aims for the world stage

An up-and-coming dancer aims to be one of the best dancers in the country.

Well-known for his moves, a local dancer says he wants to be one of the best in the country.

Samkelo ‘Killer Blesser’ Hlabane is popular in his community for his rhythm, energy and amapiano dance moves. The 19-year-old said his love for dancing was inspired by the late Killer Kau and Fascinator John Bravo.

His style, passion and accuracy on stage has earned him a reputation as one of the best local amapiano dancers to watch. With 17.9k followers on TikTok, he said his dancing style is a unique fusion of traditional and modern South African amapiano dance.

“I grew up watching dance battles and performances on TV and I knew I wanted to be part of this culture.”

According to him, his journey has not been easy. “I was injured and struggled with self-doubt and heavy competition, but I continued to push myself.”
