City of Mbombela CFO fights for her job in the high court

The City of Mbombela council resolved on April 30 to terminate the CFO’s services.

The City of Mbombela (CoM)’s CFO, Delight Sibanyoni, has made an application before the High Court of South Africa in Mbombela for the termination of her services to be declared unlawful.
The respondents include the speaker of the CoM, the executive mayor, the municipal manager, the CoM council and the MEC for co-operative governance, human settlement and traditional affairs.

Sibanyoni’s employment was terminated on Wednesday, April 30, following allegations that she had misrepresented herself on her CV. She was employed by CoM about two years ago.

The court has heard submissions from both the applicant and the respondents.
Acting Judge Hermann Fourie has set the matter down until 15:00 when he is expected to deliver his judgment.
