Mpumalanga legislature partners with Ehlanzeni college to boost youth skills growth
The MPL and Ehlanzeni TVET College aim to provide young locals with practical experience in entrepreneurship.
The Ehlanzeni TVET College and the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature (MPL) have formed a strategic partnership dedicated to enhancing education, skills development and community upliftment in the district.
The principal of the college that houses seven campuses, Elias Mbuyane, and the secretary of the MPL, Hubert Shabangu, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on May 7.
The understanding sets forth a collaborative framework designed to implement various initiatives, including internships, learnerships, lecturer workplace exposure and the development of the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations qualifications. Both institutions expressed their commitment to advancing the National Skills Development Agenda and fostering a productive working relationship aimed at benefitting communities in the district for the next five years and beyond.

The goal of the partnership is to make meaningful advancements in the educational sector and be a symbol of a shared vision of mutual growth and empowerment. It serves as a foundation for future initiatives, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province and the rest of the country.
Shabangu said the agreement should be put into good use, emphasising immediate action.
“This memorandum of understanding should not gather dust, but should be implemented for the benefit of the two institutions. This collaboration must roll out programmes that will assist both the Mpumalanga Legislature and the college.”

Mbuyane reinforced the college’s commitment to making this partnership impactful.
“We are not just looking for another partnership. We must make it work for our students and provide our lecturers with exposure to real working environments. Together, we look forward to creating opportunities that will enrich the lives of our students and the communities we serve,” Shabangu said.
