Volksrust pupil drives away in new car as a top achiever of Class of 2025

Mpumalanga recorded an increase of more than 2% in matric pass rate.

Luyanda Ndhlozi of Elangwane Secondary School in Volksrust is the Mpumalanga matric Class of 2025 top achiever.
She received a brand-new Toyota Vitz, a full bursary, monetary prizes and vouchers.

She is also the provincial and national quintile one top achiever, and a top-40 national performer.

She was celebrated at the end of the provincial 2025 National Senior Certificate Results Announcement held in Secunda on Tuesday, January 13.
Mpumalanga achieved an 86.55% pass rate which is an increase from 84.9% in 2024.

The Mpumalanga premier, Mandla Ndlovu, congratulated the Class of 2025 and the top performing pupils who received much needed bursaries, vouchers and gadgets.

“The Class of 2025 started high school during Covid-19, yet their commitment prevailed. Behind every success story stands a dedicated teacher, a parent who sacrificed, and a community that believed,” said Ndlovu.

The Mandla Ndlovu Foundation has partnered with the Mpumalanga Department of Education to donate full school uniforms to 1 000 learners across 10 top-performing schools that achieved 100% pass rate.

“We see each successful matriculation as a step towards building a prosperous future, an era in which education becomes the foundation for economic empowerment and social progress,” he said.
