Marite based Afro star Surpsider earns prestigious MAMA nomination

Surpsider has been in the music industry for some time and winning the award will put Marite Trust, his village, on the map.

The local music scene is buzzing with pride after Surprise Mphatse, professionally known as Surpsider, was nominated for the 7th annual Mzansi Arts and Media Awards (MAMA).

The Afro-artist from Marite Trust near Hazyview was nominated in the Best Afro Artist category. He is now calling on his community and fans across the province to help him bring the award home.

Surpsider is no stranger to the music industry. Having been active for over seven years, he has built a reputation for crafting soulful Afro-love songs that resonate with his fans.

“Being nominated for such a prestigious award means the world to me. The fact that I am representing my village is a huge responsibility. Winning this award and bringing it home to Marite would make my dream come true, but I can only do that with the votes of my community,” he said.
