Motorists must renew vehicle and driver’s licences before Easter safety operation

The Mpumalanga MEC for safety said law enforcers will apply zero tolerance towards motorists travelling with invalid licences during the upcoming Easter holidays.

The MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Jackie Macie, has warned motorists to renew expired vehicle and driver’s licences before the nationwide 2026 Easter Road Safety Campaign is launched.

Macie said there will be zero tolerance shown towards motorists found with invalid licences. Non-complying motorists and fleet companies will face fines and penalties.

He said Mpumalanga records show that almost 62 000 driver’s licences and 64 000 vehicle licences must be renewed. Only 623 vehicle owners have made arrangements to settle their instalments.
