Mandla Msibi resigns from ANC, says future plans undecided
Mandla Msibi's resignation from ANC has sparked conversations on social media about his next move.
Former ANC Mpumalanga treasurer, Mandla Msibi, says he is currently focusing on his studies and cannot immediately reveal his future political plans.
Speaking to Mpumalanga News on Monday, April 20, Msibi confirmed that he tendered his resignation from the party on Tuesday, April 14.
“Yes it’s true that I have resigned from the [ANC] and am now a free agent. Like a soccer star that has just left his club, many political parties have started calling me to become their member, but I have not accepted any. I am not a member of any political party at the moment,” said Msibi.
He added that he comes from a family of prayer warriors and, therefore, could not just reveal his plans without consultation with members of his family, some of whom hail from as far as Gauteng and eSwatini.
“It just makes sense that the family would be wondering as to what is happening after hearing about my resignation. As such, it would be imperative to come together so we can be on the same page before revealing my future plans,” said Msibi.

He denied social media reports linking him to the new Service Delivery Party, formed to tackle service delivery failures.
Msibi’s resignation comes after he was not re-elected to the ANC Provincial Executive Committee during the party’s 14th Provincial Conference.
He is the former Mpumalanga MEC for co-operative governance and traditional affairs.
