Sassa secures Treasury approval for revised grant schedule

Beneficiaries undergoing reviews receive a dedicated payout date as the agency urges recipients to steer clear of regional offices.

Social grant beneficiaries will receive their November payouts on revised dates to prevent operational disruptions ahead of the local government elections on November 4.

In a media statement released by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) on October 14, the schedule adjustment followed joint engagements between the agency and key stakeholders, with formal approval granted by National Treasury to implement the revised dates safely and efficiently.

Under the updated timetable, beneficiaries will receive their social grant payouts on the following dates:
•     Older Persons Grant: October 30
•     Disability Grant: November 2
•     Children’s Grants: November 3

Sassa reserves November 5 for grant reviews

Sassa emphasised that a designated fourth-day payment on Thursday, November 5 is strictly set aside for beneficiaries whose grants are currently undergoing official review.

Beneficiaries subject to reviews are urged to respond promptly to official communication from the agency and attend all scheduled appointments to avoid disruptions to their monthly payments.

The agency urged beneficiaries not to rush to regional Sassa offices unnecessarily, reassuring grant recipients that all payouts will be processed according to the updated timeline.
