Phola rapper Ben Ndlovu teams up with Zambian artist on new single

Independent rapper, hopes his upcoming single, Africa, will inspire pride in the continent while showcasing the power of collaboration beyond borders.

Independent songwriter and producer Ben Ndlovu (27), known professionally as Nandzi, has collaborated with Zambian musician TK Thee Prince on a new single promoting African unity.

The song, titled ‘Africa’, was inspired by the beauty, diversity and potential of the continent.

“Although we come from different countries, cultures and backgrounds, we are connected by our African identity,” said Ndlovu.

Shared passion bridges borders

He explained that the collaboration came about through Phoenix Tevin, who introduced him to the Zambian artist. Their shared passion for music quickly cemented a connection and a shared vision of creating a song to unite South Africa and Zambia.

According to Ndlovu, the project combines different artistic influences while carrying a common message.

“I brought my South African background, songwriting style, rap delivery and production ideas, while TK brought his Zambian identity, energy and unique artistic style,” he said.

Inspiring local talent

The songwriter added that he wanted ‘Africa’ to serve as a celebration of the continent’s cultures, talent and creativity.

As both a performer and producer, Ndlovu was closely involved in shaping the song’s message and sound. He said a highlight of the project was seeing artists from different backgrounds come together despite the challenges of co-ordinating across borders.

He hopes listeners will leave with a sense of pride and unity while recognising the value of supporting African talent.

Looking ahead, Ndlovu hopes to perform the song in both South Africa and Zambia and to continue collaborating with artists across the continent.

He also encouraged aspiring musicians from Mpumalanga to pursue opportunities beyond their immediate surroundings.
“Don’t limit yourself because of where you come from,” he said. “Your location doesn’t define the size of your vision. If you have the talent, the work ethic and the right mindset, your music can travel much further than you ever imagined.”
‘Africa’ is scheduled for release on November 5.
