This emanated after Cheryl Zondi testified that she was sexually abused by the pastor from the age of 13 years. This incident has steered the entire country to demand foreign-led churches, especially run by West Africans, to be closed down.

There was this sudden boom of these churches in almost every corner of South Africa, especially around black areas in towns, to such an extent that they now even rent space in business areas, which is illegal. However, municipalities allow them to go ahead.

Although they have been there for many years, the sudden boom occurred after another popular foreign pastor divulged during an interview that South Africans like miracles, whereas folk back in his home country, they worship God while we are being fed miracles, which is our number-one love. Money, as the popular phrase denotes, is the root of all evil, hence in these charismatic churches, what’s paramount is tithing and the miracles.

Worshippers in those churches do anything to defend their pastors, whether right or wrong. That’s the case in the current Omotoso trial in Port Elizabeth. Despite clear evidence given by an alleged victim in court, they adamantly stand by their pastor, thus ignoring the grisly acts as described in court. This is a far cry from dogmatic churches like your Zion Christian Church whose priest’s interests were to lead congregations to worshipping God. And there have been no miracles in that church to this day.

Money was not a factor, but spirituality was the main thing, hence those seeking miracles and a faster accumulation of wealth, have fallen victim to alleged crooked churches unperturbed.
We are all God’s creation, our destiny is only determined by Him and He guides us through our livelihoods on a daily basis. You don’t need these earthly gods in your lives because you can pray directly to your Creator and He will answer your prayers, not through a courier service, but directly to you.
Let’s get back to basics and worship God the Creator, not all those shady characters.
