Under new leadership

The Blackheath Rotary Club inducted its new president at a function that took place at Randpark Golf Club on 23 June.

Outgoing president Phil Hall handed over the reigns to Bronwyn Ward, making her the 14th chairperson of the club since it was founded in 2000.

She said, “I thank the members of the club for entrusting me with this honour.I will give my all to making a difference in our community for those less fortunate than ourselves. We encourage corporate companies to partner with us because we need their help to uplift the disabled, elderley and the youth in our area.” Janique du Toit and Eddie Hutchinson are part of the Rotary Youth Exchange programme. Ward added, “Both of them will be leaving for the far east and will attend school there for a year. In return their parents will host youth from Germany and America for a year.”

Hutchinson said, “Not only will we learn from the cultures of the countries that we will be living in, we will also be ambassadors for our home country.” Details: Rotary Club Secretary Lynne Ward 083-267-3413.
