It is one of the highlights on the Club’s calendar and has been running for more than 30 years.

This year’s event kicked off on 22 June and will end on 20 July. Every bowler who participates receives a gift hamper of sponsored goods and all teams are eligible to win a prize.

Ludi Ehrke of the Randburg Bowling Club said, “I have been participating in the tournament for 28 years and wouldn’t miss it even if I were on my death bed.”

Club President Ted Keartland encouraged residents to visit the club and to watch the tournament. “We offer some of the best bowling facilities in greater Johannesburg and last year again achieved the club of the year award.” The club offers a bowls clinic every Friday afternoon for people who would like to play bowls.

“We provide the bowls, all you need to do is wear a pair of flat soled shoes or takkies, dress comfortably and have fun. We target bowlers as young as eight years old up to 80 years old and it is a great family

sport.” The Club offers its facilities to companies, churches, schools and other clubs for corporate bowls days, to raise funds or to hire the hall.

Social activities in addition to the bowls include quiz evenings, regular braais, fun competitions, a book club and much more. The club is situated in the Emma Park in Linden and has secure parking.
