While enjoying the cheerful season it is pertinent that you take extra precautions to ensure your safety. Here are some streetwise tips from Colonel Nanda Moodley of SAPS Parkview.
– Be careful where you park and if you lock your car with a remote make sure to check that the doors are actually locked.
– Be care of people at intersections, sellers and beggers alike. They are not to be entertained.
– Handbags, laptops, Ipads and other easily identifiable valuables should be put in the boot of your car.
– If you are out drinking ensure that you have a designated/sober driver to get you home safely.
– Don’t broadcast the fact that you are going away for holiday.
– Always make sure your house is occupied, or at least make it seem so. Make arrangements for your lights to be switched on and off and alternate which room lights are turned on on different days.
– Make sure you always have your sector vehicle cell phone number posted/hanging in ypour car so that you can get swift help in case of an emergency.
– When reporting an incident make sure you have as much specific information as possible.
