Driving through Africa in a ’72 Mini

JOBURG – Two under-25s to drive through Africa in a 1972 car.

Bennie Kruger and Ashleigh Young need your help to take on 8000 km of African road in a 42 year old car with ten inch wheels.

The young couple have entered the Put Foot Rally and will be driving through South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique in a 1972 Austin Mini Panel Van.

The Put Foot Rally spans over eighteen days of unassisted African adventure. Roughly 60 teams participate entering in one of 3 categories: “4×4”, “Vintage” or “Just a Car”. The rally sets out to prove that southern Africa is accessible and affordable, and can be traversed without a 4×4 vehicle.

Kruger and Young will attempt the seemingly impossible in a vehicle more than twenty years their senior.
