Post office received the SABS stamp
JOBURG - The South African Post office received a certificate of employment from the South African Bureau of Standards.
The South African Post Office seems to be heading in the right direction with its service delivery.
The SA Post Office received a certificate of compliance with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO:9001:2008) standard for Quality Management System from the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) on 09 April.
The certification makes the SA Post Office one of the few postal administrations worldwide to receive this type of quality approval for its systems.
The company’s GCEO Christopher Hlekane said that this certification is among a list of competitive edges that the SA Post has identified for itself in the quest to adjust its services delivery model to adapt to customers’ needs and the changes in the postal business environment.
“Quality management systems have become an integral part of our company’s plans to achieve sustained world-class service standards for our customers in respect of on-time delivery, quality, efficiency and effectiveness,” Hlekane explained.
“The significance of this certification is that the SA Post Office will have to adhere to continuous quality improvement in its mail business as a result of SABS surveillances, a factor that will benefit our customers downstream. Customer needs keep evolving due to technological changes therefore services providers are forced to keep in step with the changes,” he added.
The SABS’s CEO Dr Boni Mehlomakulu said SABS will continue with surveillance audits of the SA Post Office to ensure that the quality management system is well managed and maintained according to the requirements of the ISO9001:2008 standard.
The implementation of ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System in SA Post Office Mail Business follows an exhaustive audit process by SABS.
The SA Post Office Mail Business involves a total of 422 mail business sites throughout South Africa, as well as 14 000 employees.
