Calling all volunteers

SOPHIATOWN - Do you want to make someone's life a little better?

COACH, the non-profit organisation that runs the St Nicolas Home for boys and St Joseph’s Home for girls in Sophiatown, appeals to the local community to get involved in its volunteer programme.

“All the children in our care are placed with us in terms of Children’s Court orders and have experienced both neglect and abuse,” Sandhira Poonsamy, the organisation’s public relations and events coordinator, said.

COACH believes that every child has the potential to achieve greatness.

“Every day we strive to ensure that the children in our care know that someone cares about them, that they have a place in this world, that they matter, and that someone believes in them,” Poonsamy said.

This organisation’s volunteer programme offers a range of ways that individuals and corporates can help; either by giving their time, contributing toward the care of our children or even assisting us with fundraising and events.

They are appealing to individuals and local companies to get involved in their volunteer programme so that they may continue doing the work they do and also better the lives of the children in their care.

If you would like to be a part of this initiative, please contact Poonsamy on 011 616 4015 or email her at sandhira@coach.org.za Alternatively, you can visit their website.
