Phoenix House will host a variety of fundraising activities between August and September.
As a prevention and treatment services facility for people affected by substance abuse and addiction, this non-profit organisation needs the community’s support to survive in this crippling financial century.
“The need for subsidised treatment has increased due to the problematic use of nyaope and tik in our area. We therefore want to raise funds to support these clients by eventually starting a charity shop in Sophiatown,” says Corné Brink, Phoenix House fundraiser.
This organisation has been helping residents in need for the last 43 years.
It accommodates up to 20 patients at a time.
“The jumble sale on 2 August is the start of that process, but we need your contribution in goods, clothing, books, furniture and bric-a-brac to make this a success,” adds Brink.
The jumble sale for Phoenix House will be at 16 Bernard Street, Sophiatown from 9 am to 1pm.
This organisation will also host a charity golf day event at number 300 Spencer Road, Maraisburg, Roodepoort on 19 September.
