Turn your heart green
EMMARENTIA - Wear your heart on your sleeve on 21 September and join the massive human heart formation against climate change at Emmarentia Dam.
Want to make a difference and be part of the biggest climate change action in history? Emmarentia Dam (Johannesburg Botanical Gardens) is the place to be on 21 September.
Joburg residents will be joining millions worldwide in the largest climate mobilisation action in history.
“A massive human heart formation will be made at Emmarentia Dam to support this campaign,” Jo-Anne Sprague, one of the local representatives of the global civic organisation, Avaaz said.
“A picnic will also be held at the same time as thousands take to the streets around the world to participate in the People’s Climate March.”
Avaaz, is one of many groups calling for global action against climate change. The organisation has hailed this ‘the most important petition we’ve ever done’ and has asked cities around the world to mobilise and demand 100 per cent clean, green, fossil-fuel-free energy. Local Avaaz members in South Africa are taking action and in Johannesburg Simone Innes is leading a group of volunteers.
“Our plan is to make it easy for everyone and anyone interested in protecting our planet to make an everyday heroic gesture in support of our Turn your Heart Green campaign and The People’s Climate March ahead of the Climate Summit,’ Innes said.
