How about a baby girl for Christmas?

MAYFAIR – Two families have reason to celebrate after welcoming their Christmas babies at Netcare Garden City Hospital.

MAYFAIR – Two families welcomed the early arrival of their daughters Cianna Rosslee and Naledi Mudumela on Christmas Day at Netcare Garden City Hospital in Mayfair.

Baby Naledi was the first to grace the hospital with her presence at 8.58am, weighing a healthy 2.9kg.

Naledi’s ecstatic parents said the birth was a pleasant surprise.

“We are full of joy. Baby Naledi was due on 8 January so we didn’t expect her to be a Christmas baby,” said her mother, Nompumelelo Mudumela.

Nompumelelo said Naledi’s was an easy birth as she arrived at Netcare Garden City Hospital at 8am, and was able to cradle her merely an hour later.

Naledi’s father Ronny Mudumela beamed with pride as he welcomed the pair’s second daughter.

“Christmas will never be the same again for us because now I will be celebrating the birth of my daughter every Christmas,” he said.

Baby Ciana also made an early arrival, eight days before her actual due date, 2 January, weighing 28.7kg.

Her mother Candice Kelly said the early birth is seen as a blessing by her family.

“It is exciting… she is going to have three Christmas presents next year – one for her birthday, one for Christmas and one from Santa,” said first-time mother Kelly.

Although she was told she would give birth in January, Kelly said she had a “mother’s gut feeling” that Ciana would be born on 26 December, just one day after her actual birth.

Welcome Naledi and Ciana.
