Minister congratulates Greenside High

GREENSIDE – Greenside High School received thumbs-up from the Minister of Justice and Correctional Service, Michael Masutha.

The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Michael Masutha paid Greenside High School a congratulatory visit on 19 January.

As part of the Parliamentary oversight functions, his visit was due to Greenside being one of the top-performing schools in his constituency.

As well as a meet and greet with various members of the school community, he addressed the school as a whole to congratulate the students and to “thank the hard-working teachers who are the backbone of our system.”

Masutha drew appreciative laughter when he suggested that now that Bafana Bafana is finally on the right track, the coach ought to be renamed after the school’s principal, Nicky Whyte, given her own record of success.

Following his address to the school, Masutha sat down for a more in-depth conversation with various role players within the school and his constituency, including Greenside High’s SGB (School Governing Body) chair Faiza Garda and councillors Joy Coplan and Sol Cowan of the City of Johannesburg.
